Welcome to my blog guys :D
So, this is the first time for me
to write a blog and I really want to conceive a piece of writing about positive
things based on my experiences (hopefully this will be useful for you).
I’d like to tell you that this
blog is about my business experiences of importing some goods from abroad. Do
you have experienced this before? You may also drop your experiences in the comment
section at the bottom of this page later :D
If you’re interested, you might kindly read this blog and I hope this helps you a lot and if you want to try, I will say, good luck
for you!
Let’s start from the basic of
importing!
First of all, prepare yourself (mental
and manner) and take a look with conditions which are related with this business.
You must be brave, confident and carefully look at your financial flow. Write down
all your strategies before you start. How much budget do you have? Who is your target
market? What kind of stuff do you want to resell? How many profits you will get
from those things? In case you need smoother process during importing, try to
build a relationship with some people who work in custom and excise department
(it might be difficult if you have no idea for this, at least you need to have
1 person to make a good deal for your shipping tax). If those lists that I mentioned
above are already prepared, let’s move to the next step.
Secondly, what do you need to
start this business? Okay, the only payment way that we can reach in this
business is online payment, So, you must have a credit card!
If you are afraid of online
payment (for being hacked or being deceived by untrusted online store), stop and
move to other business. That’s why I told you to be brave because there are only
few possibilities to meet face to face in this business between you and the
seller (even for videocall mostly are only for complicated transactions). How to
minimize that risk? There is a most popular and safest payment gateway in the online
transaction around the world, I suggest www.PayPal.com. Register your credit
card in PayPal, the trusted intermediary for online transaction. With PayPal, we
can feel safe and secure while doing the transaction because the seller will
stay not know our credit card number, expiry date, and code. How comes? Because
PayPal will keep our important information, we only login to our account during
checkout in an online store (as long as the store are accepting this payment
method) and PayPal has very secure protection for their members from hackers and
fraudsters. (I am not promoting PayPal; this is the only mediators that I trust
the most).
Next, how if you see a store were
not ship their item outside their area? For example, Vans store in US will never
ship their item outside USA territory. How to deal with that? Rent an online
warehouse which gives you an USA address and receives your package. After they
received your package, forward it to your country or area (NOTE: read the terms
and agreements before you sign up, especially if you are from a country that
rarely doing an import because sometimes they have some restricted countries to
forward the package). Where can I find this? Try to googling it, there are lots
of online warehouses and what I suggest is www.shipito.com
or you may also use another website if you want.
Let's continue
to the last step of this
business, after your order had been shipped you must pay a tax for it. Based on my experiences, the tax is very expensive in my country, Indonesia. (I hope it will not happen to you) Also, if you don’t have any
relationship
with someone in custom and excise department. They probably
decide
the tax by their will, without looking at the tax and customs provisions
book. In
worst scenario, they hold your item to make the troublesome process just
to seek
their own benefit. So, those are my experiiences working as an importer that I'd like to share in this article. However, I am assuming that is not every person in custom
and excise department has the same behavior towards their costumer :D
The rest is depending with your
skill of selling and promoting of your item to be sold :D enjoy it and don’t be
afraid to lose some money during this process, every suffer is a lesson and
pain is never permanent! Good luck fellassss
Another advices and tips to run this
business will be written in my next blog! 😊
Thanks for reading my blog and
have a greatest day!
